CMMC Compliance Makes You Stronger

If you have been putting off a deeper look into the security practices within your organization the time to take action is now. The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Framework (CMMC) is the vehicle the government will use to certify and verify how capable you are to do business with them. CMMC will change the landscape of government contracting and work with the Department of Defense (DoD).

The CMMC Framework is the vehicle by which the government will mandate a contractor’s cybersecurity maturity level to be verified by an independent 3rd party assessor. This assessor will then give your organization an official CMMC certification level. There are 5 levels of CMMC Certification. Contracts issued will soon have a CMMC Certification Level Requirement.

There’s Levels to This

The CMMC consists of two factors, each with 5 maturity levels of certification:

The first factor is the processes, things such as whether policies, standards, and procedures exist and ranging in maturity levels from Performed (Level 1) to Optimized (Level 5). The second factor is the practices, which is a checklist of cybersecurity items that range from Basic Cyber Security Hygiene (Level 1) to Advanced/Progressive (Lvl 5). In order to meet a specific level’s requirements, organizations will be required to meet both, Process and Practice requirements for that level. Companies who pass this certification process will receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years.

CMMC Certification Levels

  • BASIC CYBER HYGENE – Level 1
  • INTERMEDIATE CYBER HYGENE – Level 2
  • GOOD CYBER HYGENE – Level 3
  • PROACTIVE CYBER HYGENE – Level 4
  • ADVANCED / PROGRESSIVE CYBER HYGENE – Level 5
